Birthday Interview Checklist

Start the interview by introducing yourself, where you are, the date, who you’re interviewing and their age.

You can do this on camera or not. I typically keep the camera pointed at the child the entire time, but some people like to sit next to their child. Whatever you are comfortable with… in hindsight, I would love to see my younger self on camera too!

Birthday Interview Checklist

  • Check your equipment (good to do a day or two prior)

    • iPhone or Videocam (fully charged on the day)

    • Mic has batteries (if using one)

    • Tripod

  • Find a quiet place with good lighting and no background distractions

  • Download and print The Birthday Questions

  • Once your child is in front of the camera, let them know that there are no wrong answers. Encourage them to say the first thing that comes to mind. This will be fun :)

  • Start the interview by introducing yourself, location and date of the interview plus name and age of who you are interviewing

  • Then just ask each question on the list

  • After the Interview, download and name the interview: ‘Birthday Interview_ Kids Name_Kids Age_Date of the Interview’

  • Save the file in three places: Local external hard drive 1, Local external hard drive 2, Cloud

  • Rinse and repeat in a year.

Happy Interviewing!

Let me know if you have any questions or feedback. I'd love to hear from you.
