Welcome to Bethany Bunnell's Birthday Project

Your Kids will be out of the house in a blink of an eye. I know it may not feel like that now - but as the mother of three adult children I know its true

For the last 14 years, I have been interviewing my kids on their birthday. (My youngest was 10 at the time and I wish I had started when he was 2 or 3...)

As you know, kids say the funniest things and they also say things that get to the heart of who they are. To their soul, before, we - their parents, their teachers, their friends and even the milkman ladles on their own beliefs - limiting or expansive.

By the time girls are 13, they start censoring themselves. Ask a group of 13-year-olds if they want pizza or not. The boy's hands will shoot up while the girls look at each other and say 'thanks, but we're not hungry.' They slowly start to censor themselves.

These interviews are uncensored time capsules of your child at one-year increments. You can see the changes, insights, beliefs year-over-year. They are intimate.

I worked in television for years and was always surprised how quickly people on camera forgot that they were on camera. In that moment, they gave real, honest, and authentic answers. You can capture those moments with your child.

I am writing a book with all the of juicy details and specifics including a deeper dive into the why, where, when, and tech dets like how to store you interviews, how to ensure you never ‘forget’ to do the interview, what equipment to use, and some of the funny stories, etc.

And because I truly believe the best time to start is NOW, I am sharing my Birthday Interview Questions here.

Interview all your kids this week, and then going forward, every year  on their birthday.

I promise, it will be one of your most treasured possessions.

Action!

Ps. Please let me know how your first interview goes and if you have any questions at my email bethany@bethanybunnell.com.
